December 6, 0202

The Youth Red Cross Unit of our college has organized an impactful HIV aid awareness session for YRC volunteers on December 06, 2023 at Room No.1. The session was conducted by a distinguished resource person, Mrs Akshatha Kamath, DSRC Counsellor, whose expertise provided valuable insights into the disease. The formal programme initiated with the welcome speech by Ms. Krupa. Then resource person took over the session. The focus of the session was on highlighting the mechanisms of disease transmission. She emphasized the crucial aspects contributing to the spread of HIV/AIDS and provided informative statistics that many HIV patients are currently under treatment within the district. A notable point she highlighted during this session was the concerning trend of an increase in HIV positive cases following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This correlation sparked discussions among the volunteers, shedding light on the importance of continued education and proactive measures in combating the spread of HIV/AIDS, especially during challenging times. The session proved to be enlightening, fostering a better understanding among the YRC volunteers about the prevailing situation of HIV/AIDS in the district. A total of 92 YRC Volunteers attended the session.

The programme concluded by the vote of thanks by Ms. Suraksha. Ms. Pratheeksha was master of ceremony for the programme.
