The Youth Red Cross of our college organized a ‘Session on Disaster Management’ for its volunteers on April 22, 2026 in the Seminar Hall at 3:30 p.m. Mr Yathish Baikampady, Chairman, Disaster Management Committee, Indian Red Cross, D. K. Branch was the resource person. The session was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of disasters and how they can be managed effectively.
The resource person started his session by explaining about the difference between natural disasters such as floods, earthquakes, cyclones, and droughts and human made disasters like fires, industrial accidents, chemical leaks, and transportation accidents. He also explained the key stages of disaster management such as preparedness response, recovery, and mitigation so that students can better understand how to act before, during, and after a disaster. Overall, the session aimed to build confidence, awareness, and practical skills so that individuals can respond effectively during emergencies. 29 volunteers attended the session.
