Extension activity – Paper Bag Making at Chethana Child Development Centre

September 7, 2026

The Youth Red Cross unit of the college organized an extension activity on Paper Bag Making at Chethana Child Development Centre on September 7, 2026.
The programme focused on paper bag making as a social welfare initiative, combining environmental awareness with community engagement.
The YRC volunteers participated in making paper bags from recycled newspapers and magazines and handed them over to differently-abled children. This initiative, coordinated under the guidance of YRC Programme Officers Mrs. Rashmi and Ms Pooja Shetty aimed to foster inclusion and generate revenue for the Centre’s activities. Twenty-three YRC volunteers participated in two teams, successfully creating over 930 paper bags. The activity not only provided the children with new skills but also enhanced the volunteers’ teamwork and leadership abilities. The paper bags were sold, and the revenue supported various school activities, highlighting the YRC unit’s commitment to community engagement and social work. The extension activity at Chethana Child Development Centre was a meaningful initiative that combined social welfare, environmental awareness, skill development, and community engagement. The active participation of the children and volunteers made the programme interactive and purposeful, reflecting the values of service, compassion, and responsibility promoted by the Youth Red Cross.
