To equip students with essential life skills to navigate challenges and to enhance personal development and achieve academic and future success among the students, the Youth Red Cross unit of our college organized a workshop on “Life Skills” for YRC volunteers on September 3, 2025. Mr. Avinash N Assistant professor, St. Aloysius College Mangalore (Deemed to be University), was the resource person. The session commenced with an overview of what life skills are and their importance in personal and academic contexts. Interactive session on effective communication techniques, including active listening, assertiveness, and non-verbal communications. The workshop encouraged the participants to assess their current strengths and weaknesses in various life skills.
The workshop focused on building essential abilities such as communication, interpersonal skills, stress and time management, decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership. Participants were also familiarized with the ten core life skills, which are fundamental for overall personal development and career success. Through engaging activities like role plays, group discussions, and case studies, students were motivated to think analytically, collaborate effectively, and implement these skills in practical situations. The workshop was attended by 37 participants.
