HPV AND BASIC HEALTH AWARENESS

The Can-Cabinet Student Welfare Council and Youth Red Cross unit of our college, in collaboration with Yenepoya Speciality Hospital, Kodialbail, arranged a talk on “HPV and Basic Health Awareness” for members of the Student Welfare Council and YRC Volunteers on March 27, 2024, with the goal of increasing awareness about HPV infection and vaccination among undergraduate students.

Dr. Soumya R. Mariyappa, Consultant Obstetrician Gynecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon, was the resource person. Dr. Mariyappa discussed the prevalent PCOS issues faced by many teenagers and the underlying reasons for these problems, highlighting the importance of mental health, especially in relation to menstrual health. She emphasized the life-threatening risks associated with sexually transmitted diseases. She also highlighted the importance of HPV vaccines and strongly recommended students inoculate with the HPV vaccine as a preventive measure.

Ms. Vaishnavi welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Suraksha delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ms. Mukshi Alva. Mr. Shawn Akshay, Manager-Corporate Relations, Yenepoya Speciality Hospital, was also present. Mrs. Babitha S. Mrs. Smitha M. Student Welfare Mentors, and Mrs. Roopashri K.P. and Mrs. Rashmi, Youth Red Cross programme Officers were also present. A total 83 students benefited from this awareness programme.
