The Department of Zoology organized a field study visit to Kadammaje Farms, Belthangady, on March 31, 2026. The visit aimed to familiarize students with integrated farming systems and sustainable agricultural practices.
During the visit, students observed and learned about various components of the farm, including dairy farming, poultry farming, piggery, duckery, apiculture (beekeeping), aquaculture, and vermi-composting. They were also introduced to the functioning of a biogas unit and methods of vegetable cultivation.
The farm demonstrated how different agricultural activities are interconnected, ensuring the efficient use of resources and promoting sustainability. The biogas unit illustrated the process of converting organic waste into energy, while the vegetable cultivation practices highlighted the importance of organic and eco-friendly farming techniques.
The session was guided by Mr. Deviprasad, a progressive organic farmer and the driving force behind Kadammaje Farms. His practical insights, detailed explanations, and interactive approach greatly enhanced the students’ learning experience. A total of 32 students actively participated in the field study visit.
