“Bottle to Biosystem – A Mini Aquaponic Model.”

On March 03, 2026, students of the Department of Zoology presented a creative project titled “Bottle to Biosystem – A Mini Aquaponic Model.” The activity aimed to demonstrate how a simple plastic bottle can be transformed into a small aquaponic system that supports sustainable living practices.

Before the preparation of the model, students were introduced to the concept of aquaponics and its importance in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. They learned how fish and plants function together in a mutually beneficial system, where fish waste provides nutrients for plants and plants help in purifying the water.

Using recycled plastic bottles and simple materials, students designed and prepared a mini aquaponic model. The model demonstrated a self-sustaining ecosystem in which aquatic organisms and plants coexist and support each other.

The activity highlighted the importance of recycling, resource utilization, and eco-friendly practices. It also provided students with an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical and creative manner. The mini aquaponic model was creatively designed and prepared by a group of five students from the Department of Zoology as part of the experiential learning activity.
