A session on “Union Budget Analysis: Budget Demystified” was conducted by Ankitha of M.Com Final on March 10, 2026 from 11:30 am to 12:25 pm in Room No. 25. The session began with a relatable explanation by comparing the Union Budget to a family’s income and expenditure, making the topic accessible to students. It covered the basic structure of the Union Budget, including sources of revenue such as taxes and borrowings, and major areas of expenditure like defence, infrastructure, and subsidies. Key concepts such as capital expenditure and revenue expenditure were explained in a clear and simple manner.
The session was attended by around 50 students and was engaging and interactive. It highlighted the key features of Budget 2026, focusing on long-term investments through capital expenditure in sectors like infrastructure, railways, tourism, and healthcare. Critical aspects such as high government borrowing and the absence of immediate tax relief for the middle class were also discussed. The session enabled students to gain a better understanding of how the Union Budget impacts the economy and the general public. Overall, it was successful in enhancing students’ knowledge of financial planning and economic policies.
