An academic mentoring session was conducted for the First Year M.Com students with the objective of guiding them on effective exam preparation, academic excellence and overall professional development. The session was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator and was jointly handled by Mrs. Sneha Pai and Mrs. Shwetha Pai, Class Academic Advisors of First Year M.Com.
The session focused on helping students understand the expectations of the M.Com programme, particularly the importance of continuous assessment through assignments, presentations, projects, and examinations as prescribed by university regulations. Students were guided on how to prepare systematically for examinations, manage internal assessments, and actively participate in academic activities to achieve excellence.
Special emphasis was laid on motivating students to overcome hesitation and actively engage in classroom activities. The advisors clearly explained the significance of PPT presentations, project work, research participation and adherence to academic discipline as integral components of postgraduate learning. The importance of following proper hierarchy while communicating grievances was also discussed to instill professionalism and mutual respect.
The session was highly interactive, with students encouraged to share their concerns, academic difficulties and apprehensions openly. Individual issues and grievances raised by students were patiently addressed, creating a supportive and reassuring learning environment. The advisors provided constructive guidance and reassurance, helping students gain clarity and confidence regarding their academic journey.
By the end of the session, students exhibited increased motivation, confidence and willingness to participate actively in academic and research-related activities. The session successfully helped students feel more comfortable, encouraged open communication and positively oriented them towards achieving academic excellence in the M.Com programme.
This session aimed at achieving core values such as C3- Inculcating Value System and C5- Quest for Excellence.
