September 27, 2023

To brief about the Red Cross, its activities, and fundamental roles as a volunteer Youth Red Cross unit of our college, we organized “Orientation: An Insight into YRC” for YRC volunteers on September 27, 2023, in Room No.1. Mr. Arjun Prakash, Assistant Professor, St. Aloysius College, was the resource person. He enlightened the volunteers about the history of the establishment of the Indian Red Cross Society and briefed them on the seven fundamental principles of the Youth Red Cross movement and major activities conducted under the banner of the Youth Red Cross. He also mentioned the YRC Claps and song, which can be used for our programmes and discussed the significance that young volunteers can contribute to meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people within their local communities through the Youth Red Cross programmes. Glimpses of the humanitarian services provided by the Red Cross society throughout the world were highlighted by the resource person, which motivated the students towards voluntary service and disaster responsibility. Volunteers participated and gained overall knowledge of YRC and its responsibilities towards society. At the end of the programme resource person conducted a quiz to assess the students’ knowledge regarding the Youth Red Cross. Ms. Nidhishree was the winner of the quiz. The programme was attended by 96 students.
Ms. Mithila P. B., Secretary, YRC, was the master of ceremonies for the programme, and Mrs. Rashmi, YRC Programme Officer, welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Roopashri K. P., YRC Programme Officer, delivered the vote of thanks.
