The Department of Zoology, Canara College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized an activity titled “Conservation Challenges of Endangered Animals: Literature Review and Presentation” for First-Year B.Sc. (BZC) students on August 28, 2026, and Second-Year B.Sc. (BZC) students on August 31, 2026. The activity was organized to develop students’ research skills and create awareness about wildlife conservation.

Students selected endangered animal species and prepared scientific reviews based on research articles and review papers. Through PPT presentations, they discussed the conservation status of the selected species, major threats, existing conservation initiatives, conservation gaps, and science-based strategies for their protection.

The presentations were evaluated based on the quality of the literature review, scientific content, analysis of threats, proposed conservation strategies, presentation skills, PPT design, use of visuals, and referencing.

The activity encouraged students to explore scientific literature, analyse conservation challenges critically, and communicate scientific information effectively. Certificates will be awarded to the two best presentations. A total of 18 students participated in the activity.
