The Department of Chemistry organized a Solid Crystal Model-Making Activity using the ball and stick on April 15, 2026. A total of 22 students participated enthusiastically in the activity. They were divided into 7 groups, with each group consisting of 3 to 4 students to encourage teamwork and collaborative learning. One week’s time was given to all the teams to prepare models, and they submitted them on April 15, 2026.
The students actively engaged in designing and building different types of crystal models, which helped them visualize the three-dimensional arrangement of atoms in solids. The activity created an interactive learning environment where students could discuss, plan, and execute their models effectively. It also enhanced their creativity, coordination, and understanding of structural concepts in chemistry.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. Roopashri K. P., Head of the Department of Chemistry, who served as the staff in charge. She monitored the progress of each group, provided necessary guidance, and ensured that the activity was carried out systematically and successfully.
Overall, the activity was informative and engaging. It provided students with valuable practical exposure and strengthened their understanding of crystal structures through hands-on experience in the laboratory.
