ReCreate — Where Creativity Meets Sustainability

The Nature Club of Canara College organized a Waste Management Competition-cum-Exhibition titled “ReCreate — Where Creativity Meets Sustainability” to encourage students to transform waste into functional, creative, and eco-conscious art pieces. The activity aimed to raise awareness about sustainable living and promote environmentally responsible practices among students across all streams.

Participants were invited to design art pieces, utility items, or educational models using discarded materials, highlighting creativity, originality, and environmental sustainability.

Students participated individually or in teams of two, submitting their creative projects on November 14, 2025. Each team submitted their creation with a write-up on A4-sized chart highlighting:

Type of waste materials used

How the creation helps reduce waste

A slogan or message promoting waste management

The submitted creations were evaluated based on Creativity & Originality, Use of Waste Materials, Functionality, Aesthetic Appeal and Environmental Message Conveyed. The evaluation was conducted on November 15, 2025, by Mrs. Sushama C, HOD of Zoology, Mrs. Roopashri K P, HOD of Chemistry and Mrs. Smitha M, Assistant Professor in Commerce.

The best creations were recognized, and a special “Eco-Innovator Award” was also conferred. The first prize with the Eco-Innovator Award was bagged by Ms. Varsha and Ms. Harsha of I B.Sc. The second place was bagged by Ms. Samruddhi and Ms. Amritha Shetty of II B.Sc.

The creations were exhibited in Zoology Laboratory from November 14, 2025 to November 17, 2025.

A total of 23 students actively participated, showcasing their Creative and Eco-conscious ideas.

The activity successfully showcased the innovative abilities of students and emphasized the importance of sustainable living. It encouraged participants to think critically about waste management and contributed to spreading Eco-conscious awareness within the college community.
