RAGGING AWARENESS: BUILDING A CULTURE OF RESPECT

The Anti Ragging Cell of Canara College organized a session on Ragging Awareness: Building a Culture of Respect on November 14, 2025 in Lecture Hall 10. The Resource Person for the session was Dr. Steevan D’Souza N., Assistant Professor, Post Graduate Department of Business Administration, St. Aloysius Institute of Management and IT. The objective of this programme was to create awareness about the ill-effects of ragging and promote a culture of respect, empathy, and inclusivity among students. Anti Ragging Cell Convenors Mrs. Usha Nayak and Mrs. Shailaja Kumari coordinated the programme.

He briefed the students about ragging, the harmful effects of ragging and legal consequences and implementing measures to prevent ragging incidents in the educational institution. He also stressed about establishing a clear and accessible mechanisms for reporting ragging incidents anonymously, promoting an inclusive and respectful campus culture, encouraging activities that build good friendship and mutual respect among the students. Students were informed to consult the conveners of the Anti-Ragging Cell or their Academic Mentors in case of emergency. A total of 70 students benefited in this awareness campaign.
