“Plant, Protect, Preserve- My Medicinal Plant”

March 3, 2026

The Nature Club of Canara College (Autonomous), Mangaluru organized a home-based activity titled “Plant, Protect, Preserve – My Medicinal Plant” on March 3, 2026, in observance of World Wildlife Day 2026. The activity aimed to create awareness about the importance of medicinal plants, their role in biodiversity conservation, and the need for sustainable environmental practices, while encouraging students to actively participate in environmental conservation at home.

Student members were instructed to select and plant a medicinal plant in their home garden. They carefully planted saplings such as Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Mint, Neem, or other locally available medicinal plants. After planting, students nurtured the plants by providing proper watering, sunlight, and regular care.

Participants recorded the details of their selected plant in the provided template, including scientific name, common name, local name, and medicinal value. They also documented the activity with photographs.

The activity was successfully conducted at the students’ homes with great enthusiasm and commitment. A total of 24 students actively participated.
