The Department of Chemistry organized an innovative and creative activity titled “Chem Veg Art” for the I B.Sc students on September 27, 2025. The main idea behind this event was to blend creativity with scientific understanding by using fruits and vegetables to design models that represent various chemical concepts and apparatus. This activity aimed to make learning Chemistry more interactive, enjoyable, and conceptually clear.
A total of 22 students participated in the activity, divided into 4–5 member groups. Each group used fruits and vegetables to create models representing various chemical concepts and laboratory techniques. Some of the creative models included: Distillation apparatus, Determination of rate of reaction, Structure of complex organic molecules, etc.
Students exhibited great enthusiasm and originality in their designs. They explained their models clearly, linking artistic representation to theoretical chemical principles.
The Chem Veg Art Activity proved to be a unique and successful learning experience for the students. It effectively combined creativity with scientific understanding and encouraged students to think innovatively about Chemistry in their everyday surroundings. The Department of Chemistry plans to continue such experiential learning activities in the future to make science education more engaging and meaningful.
Winners of the activity are:
