On November 13, 2025, the Department of English organized an Essay Writing Competition as part of its academic activities to encourage students to reflect on the contributions of eminent national leaders. The topic for the competition was “Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s Contribution to Education.”
The competition witnessed the active participation of seven students, who showcased their understanding of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s vision, ideals, and significant role in shaping the Indian education system. The essays highlighted Azad’s contributions as the first Education Minister, his commitment to universal education, promotion of higher learning, and efforts toward national integration through education.
The evaluation of the essays was based on certain assessment criteria, which included content, language, presentation, and neatness. Based on the overall performance and adherence to these parameters, the First Prize and Second Prize were decided.
The competition, well-conducted under the supervision of Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, proved to be academically enriching and helped students enhance their writing skills, critical thinking, and awareness of India’s educational heritage. The event successfully met its objective of promoting intellectual engagement and appreciation of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s invaluable contribution to education.
