December 10, 2025

The Department of Business Administration, Canara College, Mangaluru, organized an industrial visit from December 1 to December 5, 2025 to the final year BBA students. The visit covered the Chocolate Factory and Tea Factory in Ooty and the Wayanad Honey Museum LLP.

At the Chocolate Factory, students observed the complete chocolate manufacturing process, including raw material selection, processing, quality control, packaging, and branding, gaining insights into hygiene standards and market-oriented production. During the visit to the Tea Factory, students were introduced to various stages of tea processing such as withering, rolling, fermentation, drying, grading, and packing. The importance of quality assurance, climatic conditions, and supply chain management in the tea industry was explained. At the Honey Museum, Wayanad, students learned about beekeeping practices, honey extraction techniques, and value-added honey products. The museum highlighted sustainable harvesting methods, biodiversity conservation, and rural entrepreneurship.

The industrial visit proved to be an enriching academic experience. A total of 31 students actively participated in the visit. The guidance and coordination provided by Mrs. Seema Prabhu S, Head of the Department, and Ms. Devika Prabhu, faculty, ensured the smooth conduct of the visit and enhanced the learning experience of the students. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theoretical learning and practical exposure. The industrial visit supported the institutional core values by enhancing global competency (C2) through students’ exposure to professional practices in food processing and agro-based industries, and by promoting the use of technology (C4) as students observed modern machinery, semi-automation, quality control systems, and real-time production processes during the visits.
