National Conference on E-waste Management–Challenges and Opportunities

The Department of Business Management of Canara College in association with the Forum of Business Management Association Teachers (FOBMAT) conducted a two day UGC sponsored National Conference on E-Waste Management-Challenges and Opportunities on September 3 and 4 2015 at Smt Rathna S. Shenoy Memorial Hall in Canara College, Mangaluru. The Conference was inaugurated by Sri.Raju Mogaveera, Deputy Commissioner Dept. of Revenue, Mangaluru City Corporation. He congratulated the Department of Business Management of Canara College for choosing a relevant topic and also stated that the two day deliberations of this conference should aid the City Corporation in getting innovative ideas, concepts, failures and grievances, and the outcome of which should help to tackle the issues and arrive at solutions to E-Waste problems.

Sri. Praveen Kumar, CEO (Research & Development), E-Parisaraa Pvt.Ltd, Bengaluru gave the keynote address. He enlightened the audience with an elaborate power point presentation on the Sustainability and the three components of it, such as Environmental, Social and Economical aspects. He also mentioned the hazards of Informal Recycling of E-Waste. He recommended the need to develop Sustainable Technologies and also support “MAKE IN INDIA AND MADE IN INDIA” Concept. In Two Days’ National Conference. There were 5 technical sessions on the relevant topics like “Implications of E-Waste on Health and Environment” “Media and Public awareness on E-Waste” “Wealth from E-Waste” “Stakeholders Responsibility in E-Waste management” “Gen-Next (Innovating today for Sustainable Tomorrow”. Dignitaries from streams of journalism, education, Govt. and corporate sectors educated the delegates on the above topics. 200 participants took the benefit of the programme.
