Skill Development Programme on “Unlocking AI: Hands-on with ChatGPT & Gamma”

The Cell for Advanced Studies in Science and Technology (CASST) organized a hands-on programme titled “Unlocking AI: Hands-On with ChatGPT and Gamma” on August 21, 2026, at 3:30 P.M. in Computer Lab 4. The session was led by the resource person, Mrs. Vinutha, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Applications, Canara College (Autonomous). She explained the different types of AI and various AI tools, with a focus on Generative AI, ChatGPT, effective prompting, and Gamma. She demonstrated the practical applications of ChatGPT and Gamma and explained how AI tools can be used to prepare invitations, create website content, presentations, and other academic materials.
A hands-on session was conducted, enabling students to practically explore ChatGPT and Gamma. The session was informative, interactive, and practical, helping students understand the effective use of AI tools in academic and creative activities.
The programme commenced with Ms. Tanvi, III BCA A and Student Convenor of CASST, serving as the Master of Ceremonies. Ms. Sanavya rendered the invocation, while the welcome address was delivered by Mrs. Soujanya D., Staff Convenor of CASST, who welcomed the gathering. Mrs. Prathima V. Baliga, Staff Convenor of CASST, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was smoothly conducted with the active involvement of the Staff Convenors, student convenors, and participants, reflecting the collaborative effort behind the successful organization of the event.

The session provided students with practical exposure to emerging AI tools and enhanced their understanding of how Generative AI can be effectively utilized for academic and creative purposes. The programme concluded on a positive note, with students gaining valuable hands-on experience in using AI tools. A total of 41 students participated in and took the benefit of the programme.
