The Aerya Award Presentation Ceremony was held on October 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Smt. Ratnabai S. Shenoy Memorial Seminar Hall.
Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of the College, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and attendees. The Chief Guest, Sri. Aerya Balakrishna Hegde, Managing Director, Chartered Group, Bengaluru, in his address, spoke about the visionary ideals of Sri. Ammembal Subbarao Pai, the founder of Canara Institutions. He also hailed the name ‘Canara’ as the “fountain head of education and banking”. He appreciated the organization’s noble initiative in instituting the Aerya Award in the fond memory of Sri. Aerya D. Lakshminarayana Alva, and lauded the Canara team for their diligence in identifying and honoring truly deserving awardees despite the challenging selection process.
Sri. D. Vasudeva Kamath, President of the Canara High School Association, presided over the ceremony. In his presidential address, he highlighted the importance of the Aerya Award in recognizing individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication and accomplishment in their respective fields.
In recognition of their outstanding contributions to the religious, literary, and social spheres, the prestigious Aerya Award- 2025 was conferred upon Sri. Chempi Ramachandra Anantha Bhat, and Dr. Sonda Bhaskara Bhat. In his acceptance speech, Sri Chempi Ramachandra Bhat emphasized that one should always strive to give more than what one receives. He fondly recalled his mother’s valuable advice- first, to always possess sweet words, a pleasant smile, and a warm welcome; and second, to extend help to others selflessly. Dr. Sonda Bhaskara Bhat, in his address, reminisced about his association with Sri. Aerya D. Lakshminarayana Alva, and reflected on his generosity, humility, and lifelong commitment to education and service.
The event was graced by C.A. M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent of the College; Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator; and Sri Gururaj Shet, President of the Alumni Association.A total of 85 members of the college were present during the programme.
