The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) members and students of the college attended the Orientation Session on IIC 8.0, organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE, on October 22, 2025. The purpose of the session was to provide insights into the revised framework, operational guidelines, and implementation processes under the IIC 8.0 edition and to guide higher education institutions in planning and executing innovation and entrepreneurship activities effectively for the academic year.
The session commenced with a welcome address by representatives from MIC, highlighting the national vision of fostering innovation, startup culture, and entrepreneurial mindsets among students and faculty across institutions. The speakers outlined the role of IICs in strengthening the innovation ecosystem through structured initiatives, mentoring, networking opportunities, and collaboration with industry and innovation agencies.
During the session, detailed information was shared on the components of IIC 8.0, including:
- Revised activity structure and assessment criteria
- Mapping of innovation and entrepreneurship goals with institutional outcomes
- Guidelines for conducting self-driven, MIC-driven, and celebration activities
- Procedures for quarterly reporting and documentation on the IIC portal
- Opportunities for recognition, awards, and star-rating improvements
Special emphasis was placed on participation in national-level events such as the National Innovation Contest (NIC), Smart India Hackathon (SIH), Proof-of-Concept (PoC) support programs, R&D and Climate Change Cell, and other startup and innovation initiatives facilitated by MIC and AICTE.
The orientation also highlighted capacity-building opportunities for faculty coordinators and student leaders through training modules, peer learning, mentorship support, and collaboration with incubation Centres and research institutions. The session concluded with an interactive discussion during which participants sought clarifications regarding implementation, evaluation norms, and best practices. The speakers encouraged active engagement, collaboration, and consistent execution of innovation activities throughout the academic cycle. Overall, the Orientation Session on IIC 8.0 served as an informative and motivating platform, equipping participants with clarity and direction to effectively plan and carry forward innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives within the institution. A total of 88 participants attended the session from our college.
