Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) 2025, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and the Architect of National Integration, was celebrated at Canara College on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 2:30 P.M. in the Seminar Hall.
The Chief Guest, Col. Nitteguthu Sharath Bhandary (Retired, Indian Army), delivered a deeply inspiring address. Drawing from his rich experience in the armed forces, he emphasized the true essence of unity, discipline, and patriotism. He recounted stories of courage and selfless service, urging students to reflect on the sacrifices made by soldiers to safeguard the nation’s integrity. He also encouraged the young generation to uphold national values and contribute towards a peaceful, inclusive, and united India. His speech instilled a profound sense of pride, responsibility, and commitment to the ideals of national unity.
Following his address, Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of Canara College, administered the Pledge for Unity and delivered the Presidential Address. She spoke about the importance of unity amidst diversity and the collective responsibility of every citizen in upholding the nation’s integrity. Her words inspired students to embrace diversity and harmony as the foundation of national progress.
Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator, welcomed the guest and the gathering. Mrs. Megha, IQAC Coordinator, extended a heartfelt gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the programme. Ms. Prathiksha, student of I BCom B rendered the invocation. Altogether, 105 students participated in the programme, which successfully instilled a sense of unity, patriotism, and responsibility among them.
