In consonance with the directions of the Central Vigilance Commission, Vigilance Awareness Week- 2025 with its central theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” was observed by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Canara College from October 27, 2025 to November 02, 2025. A formal awareness programme was held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00 A.M.
Mrs. Swathi K, Senior Manager, Canara Bank, Specialised NRI Branch, Mangaluru and Alumna of the 2006–09 batch, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an insightful address on the theme. In her message, she emphasized that vigilance is a shared duty of every citizen and organization, forming the backbone of transparent governance and ethical conduct. She further highlighted that collective vigilance helps prevent corruption and ensures fairness and trust in both public and private sectors.
Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, Canara College, administered the Integrity Pledge for the Organization, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to uphold honesty and accountability in all its operations. Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Department of Commerce, administered the Integrity Pledge for Citizens, encouraging individuals to contribute to building a corruption-free nation through personal integrity and social responsibility.
In connection with the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, a series of awareness activities were undertaken to engage students and staff. The details are as follows:
Collage Competition was organized by the Human Values and the Professional Ethics Cell on October 27, 2025. The prize winners are: I Place- Niharika and Yuthika of III B.Sc and II Place: Nethra and Dhanya of II B.Sc.
Pencil Sketch Competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association on October 28, 2025 and the prize winners are I Prize: Vamshi J N, II B.Com B and II Prize: Yuthika J Karkera, III B.Sc.
Essay Writing Competition was organized by the Department of Hindi on October 29, 2025, at 3;30 P.M. and the prize winners are I Prize: Akshatha III B.Com A and II Prize: Likith Raj III B.Com B
Staff members and students took the Integrity pledge online on October 29, 2025.
Quiz Competition was organized by the Commerce Association on October 30, 2025 at 3:30 P.M. Mr. U Ramprasad Bhat & Ayush from II BCA D won the First Place and and the prize winners are I prize: Shreya and Samruddhi II B.Com C and II Prize: Trisha and Vaishnavi Pai II B.Com C.
Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Asha Kiran Pakkala, Head, Department of Physics, announced the winners of various competitions. Mrs. Megha, IQAC Coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.A total of 100 students actively participated in the programme and other associated activities.The programme aimed to promote the spirit of national integration, unity, and collective responsibility among students, fulfilling the NAAC core values of contributing to national development and inculcating value systems.
