The Nature Club and Department of Botany organized a hands-on activity on Grafting and Layering for III B.Sc. Zoology students from November 05, 2025, to November 19, 2025. The activity was coordinated by Mrs. Pushpanjali S, Assistant Professor and Nature Club Faculty Convenor, and advisor Ms. Madhushree, Head of the Department of Botany.
The total duration of the activity was 15 days, and it was conducted in two phases.
Phase 1: Session on Grafting and Layering
A two-hour interactive session was conducted.
- Mr. Prajeeth Kumar JK, III B.Sc., introduced students to various types of grafting techniques.
- Ms. Ashvetha, III B.Sc., explained different methods of layering.
The session included explanations of the procedures, advantages, and applications of each method.
Phase 2: Hands-on Activity
Following the session, students selected one method from grafting or layering and carried out the activity at a location of their choice.
- Most students conducted the activity in their home gardens.
- A few students opted to perform the activity in the college garden.
Students successfully practiced bud grafting, cleft grafting, wedge grafting, air layering, and simple layering. They documented their work by submitting photographs and videos of the procedures.
