The students of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce presented an English Yuvavani program on All India Radio, Mangalore, on December 16, 2025, on the topic “Taxes and the Economy.” The recorded program was broadcast on January 03, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.
The session aimed to create awareness among citizens about the importance of taxes and to motivate people to become responsible taxpayers. The program covered various important aspects such as the basics of taxation, the difference between direct and indirect taxes, the significance of paying taxes, taxation as an investment in nation-building, fundamentals of tax filing, GST slabs, price implications, and the overall impact of taxes on the economy. The content was presented in a simple and engaging manner to ensure clarity and public understanding.
A total of 12 Final M.Com students participated in the program, contributing their knowledge and communication skills to make the session informative and impactful. The program was coordinated by Mrs. G. Sneha Pai, Faculty of Commerce, under the guidance of the PG Coordinator, Mrs. Swathi Nayak.
This initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to Contributing to National Development, as it promotes financial awareness and responsible citizenship. It also supports Fostering Global Competencies among Students by enhancing their communication and analytical abilities through experiential learning. Furthermore, the program aligns with the NAAC value of Inculcating a Value System among Students by instilling a sense of social responsibility and ethical awareness regarding taxation and nation-building.
