“Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” is a National initiative focused on achieving a Drug-Free India. To commemorate the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Can-Cabinet Student Welfare Council organized an Awareness programme to the youth, to take a pledge against the drugs. The awareness programme was organized on June 26, 2024 at Smt. Ratna S. Shenoy Memorial Seminar Hall in the presence of Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, Canara College, and Student Welfare Mentors Mrs. Babitha S. & Mrs. Smitha M. Mrs. Shwetha Pai & Mrs. Sneha from Department of PG studies were also graced the occasion.
Speaking at an awareness programme, Principal, Dr. Premalatha V., asked students to keep away from consumption of drugs and help in trafficking. She also said that it would be difficult to come out of the trap. Once person become habitual consumers, they turn peddler to earn money to procure drugs for their own consumption. Falling into drug abuse affects the entire family and society as a whole. She gave a call that there is a necessity to free India from drug abuse.
63 Students took part in taking a pledge in an awareness programme against drug abuse and Mrs. Babitha S., Student Welfare Officer administered pledge to students.
