The Onam celebration at our institution was conducted with great enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. J.P. Thuminad, a renowned actor, director and writer who graced the occasion as the Chief guest. During the inaugural ceremony our Correspondent, CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Manager Sri. Shivanand Shenoy, Principal, Dr. Premalatha V. and Administrator Dr Deepthi Nayak were also present, adding dignity and charm to the event. On this occasion, the Onam celebration title “ONAMSPARSHAM” was officially revealed.
During the inaugural programme, a few students performed Thiruvathira Kali, a traditional dance form of Kerala, adding grace and cultural charm to the celebration. The celebration featured a variety of vibrant cultural activities. The Pookalam competition saw enthusiastic participation with students designing beautiful and floral patterns that captured the spirit of Onam. Students also presented graceful dance performances, adding colour and liveliness to the programme.
In the afternoon, the Kunitha Bhajan competition was conducted, which turned out to be another engaging and devotional event. The energetic performance and active participation of students made it a memorable segment of the celebration. To add more excitement, a DJ performance combined with Chende was arranged exclusively for the students. The powerful beats of the Chende, along with the DJ, created a festive atmosphere, and students thoroughly enjoyed the session. The winners of the competitions were honoured and awarded cash prizes in recognition of their creativity, talent and effort.
Almost 1000 students attended the programme. The entire event concluded on a joyful and vibrant note, beautifully celebrating the spirit of Onam and fostering unity and cultural harmony among students.
This program enhances cultural awareness among students about Kerala’s traditions, values and heritage. It increased students’ participation in cultural activities, encouraging creativity and self-expression. This activity strived to achieve core values of inculcating a value system and eliciting a quest for excellence among the student beneficiaries.
