On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Centre for Post Graduate Studies in Commerce organized a special event titled “The Green Ramp” for M.Com students on June 5, 2025, at 2:30 P.M. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator, and Mrs. Sneha Pai, Faculty M.Com Department, and attended by 55 students. The event featured Mrs. Dejamma A, Head of the B.Com Department at Canara College, as the Chief Guest.
In her address, Mrs. Dejamma emphasized the theme of World Environment Day 2025, highlighting the significance of environment in human life. Mr. Parashuram, a student of II M.Com, shared insights on the importance of nature in Indian culture, explaining how people consider nature as divine and worship it through rituals. The event was expertly hosted by Ms. Ankitha, while Ms. Sangeetha, Faculty at Swasthika College, and Mrs. Laxmi, Faculty at Canara College, served as judges for the activities.
Following the discussions, the students showcased their creativity through an environment-themed ramp walk, where they teamed up—one designing costumes and the other modelling them. Themes included saving water, creating a plastic-free environment, protecting mother earth, and preserving nature. The ramp walk provided a creative and interactive way for students to express their commitment to environmental conservation. After the walk, judges engaged the participants in insightful discussions, asking questions related to their themes, thus successfully encouraging awareness and responsibility toward nature in a fun and engaging manner.
