To enhance learning beyond the classroom and offer students practical exposure to the professional world, an industrial visit was organized by the Department of Commerce and Management, Canara College, Mangaluru, for the II B.Com C students on May 30, 2025. A total of 24 students, accompanied by two faculty members, visited Srichakra Plastic Containers and Navadurga Food Products. The visit aimed to help students understand the production process involved in plastic bag manufacturing and food packaging.
At Srichakra Plastic Containers, the Production Manager provided an overview of the company’s operations and core manufacturing processes. Following this, students visited the Navadurga Food Products unit, which produces items for brands like Nandini and Ribbons & Balloons. They were introduced to the complete production cycle, including the use of fine POP granules, bobbin rolls of plastic threads, POP bag manufacturing, as well as the printing and lamination stages.
The visit also provided insights into plant layout design, production flow, and human resource practices. This experiential learning activity aimed to foster global competency (NAAC Core Value C2) and promote the quest for excellence (NAAC Core Value C5) among students.
