A group of final-year and second-year students from the Mathematics Department of Canara College visited the Basic Math Lab at Government School, Nada, Belthangady on March 6, 2025. The lab was established in 2015 by Mr. Yakub Koyyuru, a mathematics teacher who received the National Award from the Union Ministry of Education in 2020 for his innovative initiative. The Math Lab helps high school students visualize and understand mathematical concepts through real models.
Our students had the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning, making mathematics more interactive and enjoyable. While theoretical problem-solving is a core part of their studies, many students find certain mathematical concepts difficult to grasp. However, in this lab, these concepts were demonstrated simply and engagingly, helping students build a strong foundation in mathematics. This experience will benefit them in their pursuit of higher-level mathematics in the future.
During the visit, our students had an interactive session with Mr. Yakub Koyyuru, which they found highly inspiring. His insights motivated them to dream big and work towards achieving their goals.
In addition to the Math Lab visit, the students also explored the Rani Abbakka Tulu Adhyayana Kendra at Sanchayagiri, Bantwal. The founder of the museum, Mr. Tukharama Pujary, provided an insightful exploration of Tulu culture and heritage, showcasing artifacts used by ancestors.
The visit was planned and executed by Mrs. Keerthi K. and Mrs. Poornima, benefiting 47 students by providing valuable academic and cultural learning experiences.
