Career Guidance Program: A Successful BSC Career

The Department of Mathematics organized a Career Guidance Program titled “A Successful B.Sc. Career” on March 18, 2026, for B.Sc. students. The event was held in the Seminar Hall. The aim of the program was to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and direction needed to make informed career choices and achieve success in their academic and professional journeys.

Dr. Raghavendra A., Retired Associate Professor, former Head of the Department of Mathematics, and former Principal of Poornaprajna College, Udupi, served as the resource person for the program. In his address, he highlighted the benefits of pursuing a B.Sc. degree and emphasized the importance of enhancing career prospects through additional skill development. He discussed various online courses that students can undertake alongside their studies, particularly in high-demand fields such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, and Coding. He also introduced students to online learning platforms like SWAYAM, Coursera, and edX, which offer courses from reputed universities and government institutions, helping learners build skills and improve employability

Furthermore, he provided valuable insights into competitive examinations such as JAM, CAT, NIMCET, and GATE, which open pathways to higher education in premier institutions like IITs and NITs. In addition, he outlined the wide range of opportunities available in the public sector, defence, and private sector, particularly in the areas of innovation and research.

Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, presided over the program. The event was planned and executed by Mrs. Keerthi K., Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Mrs. Poornima, Assistant Professor in Mathematics. The program began with an invocation rendered by Ms. Sugama Priya and Ms. Jeevitha of III B.Sc.

Ms. Sharanya of III B.Sc. welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest, while the program was compered by Ms. Ananya Shetty of III B.Sc. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ms. Janisha of III B.Sc. A total of 99 students participated in the program and benefited from the session. The program contributed to the development of core values such as Contribution to National Development, Fostering Global Competency, Inculcating Value System, and Quest for Excellence by encouraging students to strive for academic and professional growth.
