The Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce organized an insightful programme titled “Content Beyond the Syllabus: Simplified Literature Review through AI” on April 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The session was designed specifically for the first-year M.Com students, with 28 participants in attendance. The resource person, Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator of the M.Com Department, Canara College, delivered an engaging session that went beyond the conventional curriculum. The focus was on the practical application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the research process, particularly for conducting literature reviews, a key topic in the Business Research Methodology syllabus prescribed by Mangalore University.
Mrs. Nayak introduced students to various AI tools and websites that streamline the literature review process, explaining how they can enhance research efficiency by reducing manual effort. She also conducted a hands-on session that allowed students to refine their search for research articles and explore academic resources. This practical exposure provided invaluable insights into the integration of AI into academic research. The programme emphasized the core values of promoting technological advancements for a greener environment and fostering an enduring commitment to excellence, aligning perfectly with the institution’s mission to enhance student capabilities beyond the syllabus.
