The Cell for Advanced Studies in Science & Technology organized a Skill Development Programme on “Research Playground: Experiential Learning in Research Methodology” on April 24, 2026, at Smt. Ratna S. Shenoy Memorial Seminar Hall. Dr. Megha, Asst. Professor, Department of Commerce, Canara College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, served as the resource person. She conducted a series of engaging, activity-based sessions that ensured active student participation and made the learning process highly interactive.
Through these activities, she guided students through the various stages of the research process, including identifying a research problem, conducting a literature review, framing a research title, setting objectives and hypotheses, designing the research methodology, and carrying out data collection and analysis. She also highlighted the essential do’s and don’ts of research, emphasizing ethical practices, originality, and proper citation methods & provided guidance on how research work should be systematically presented in the form of a well-structured research paper. Dr. Megha’s approach simplified a complex subject, enabling students to understand the concepts with clarity and apply them effectively.
Mrs. Dejamma A., Principal In Charge & Head, Department of Commerce, presided over the programme. In her address, she emphasized the close relationship between inquisitiveness and research, highlighting that with perseverance and dedication, anyone can engage in meaningful research.
Ms. Sania, Student Convenor, welcomed the guest and the gathering. Ms. Sharanya, Student Convenor, proposed the vote of thanks, and Ms. Sharanya of III BCA compered the programme. Ms. Sathwica, II BCA rendered the invocation. Mrs. Prathima V. Baliga and Mrs. Soujanya were present and guided students in organising the program, reflecting the collaborative effort behind the event.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing participants to clarify their doubts and gain deeper insights into various aspects of research methodology discussed during the programme. A total of 65 students participated in and benefited from the programme.
