The Centre for Post-Graduation Studies in Commerce organized a Student-led Academic Enrichment Programme on “Introduction to AI & BI for Commerce Students” on December 06, 2025, for first year B.Com students. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator, M.Com Department, under the guidance of Mrs. Dejamma A., Head of the Department of Commerce, and Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, Canara College, Mangaluru. Ms. Srilaxmi from II M.Com led the session, demonstrating exemplary leadership and knowledge-sharing skills. Sixty first-year B.Com students participated in this enriching session, showing keen interest in learning about emerging technologies in commerce.
Ms. Srilaxmi delivered an engaging and informative presentation covering the basics of Artificial Intelligence and Business Intelligence, explaining how AI works and its underlying mechanisms. She elaborated on the numerous benefits of AI in daily life, including its applications in shopping, banking, communication, and entertainment. The session particularly focused on the transformative impact of AI and BI in the commerce field, discussing applications such as customer behaviour analysis, inventory management, personalized marketing, financial forecasting, and data-driven decision-making. The interactive nature of the session encouraged first-year students to ask questions and explore how these technologies will shape their future careers in commerce. This peer-to-peer learning initiative not only enriched the junior students but also provided valuable teaching experience to the postgraduate student, fostering a culture of collaborative learning and excellence.
