The Department of Kannada on September 26, 2025 organized an industrial visit to Vijayavani Printing Press, a reputed daily newspaper press, to enhance the students’ understanding of the media production process. A total of 25 students, accompanied by 2 faculty members, actively took part in this educational tour.
During the visit, the students were taken through various departments of the press including the Pre-press section where the content layout and typesetting are done; the Printing section- showcasing the offset printing technology used for mass production, and the Post-press section which involves cutting, folding, bundling, and dispatch.The press officials explained each process in detail and answered the students’ queries enthusiastically. Students were especially fascinated by the speed and precision of the automated machines used in large-scale newspaper printing.
The visit to Vijayavani Printing Press was a highly informative and enriching experience for the students of the Department of Kannada. It successfully met its objectives and left a lasting impression on its participants. The Department plans to organize similar visits in the future to continue providing practical exposure alongside classroom learning. This activity fostered global competencies among students.
