Extension Activity on “How to Stay Safe Online?”– An Awareness Campaign

November 3, 2023

In connection with Cyber Security Awareness Month, an educational initiative organized by the Department of Computer Science & Applications conducted an Extension Activity on “How to Stay Safe Online?” – An awareness campaign on November 3, 2023, at D. K. Z. P. Government High School, Mallikatte, Mangaluru, at 3:00 p.m.

Ms. A. Vaishnavi Kamath, Mr. Adithya B. R., and Mr. Deepak B. V. provided a detailed explanation of cybercrime and cyber threats, offering insights into identifying potential risks, protecting data online, and implementing precautionary measures. To further illustrate these concepts, Ms. Ritu Pai, Ms. Shreya M. S., Mr. Manvith, and Mr. Shailesh Shenoy M. performed a series of four to five skits. These enactments aimed to enhance understanding and convey practical guidelines for staying safe online and recovering from potential cyber-attacks.

Following the skits, a quiz was conducted to ensure students grasped the key concepts and takeaways regarding cyber fraud, online harm, and online safety, reinforcing the key messages of the awareness campaign. Our students also shared flyers and posters for display on notice boards, contributing to the broader dissemination of information.

Mr. Shamanth V, the Head Master of D. K. Z. P. Government High School, commended the III BCA students for undertaking such meaningful initiatives and encouraged them to persist in their efforts. Mrs. Prathima V. Baliga, the programme coordinator, provided guidance, facilitated, and coordinated the programme. In total, 37 students and 5 staff members of D. K. Z. P. Government High School actively participated in the programme.

This endeavor not only promotes cyber literacy but also fosters a safer online environment for the students, empowering them to make informed decisions when using the internet.
