Awareness Session on “Healthy Diet”

To create awareness among the students at the graduate level, the Youth Red Cross Unit of our college organized an “Awareness Session on Healthy Diet” for YRC Volunteers on October 4, 2023, in Room No l. Ms. Chaithra Kamath, dietician at Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, was the resource person. She started her presentation by raising awareness about the importance of appropriate nutrition, which is necessary to maintain and improve health, especially among children and youth. She highlighted classes of nutrients, nutrient-rich diets, and different types of food we should eat in order to stay healthy and fit. She has mentioned the health benefits of fruits, calcium and iron-rich foods, and the harmful effects of junk food. She also explained that a healthy diet helps to protect against malnutrition among youths as well as non-communicable diseases including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer. The session aimed at demonstrating the importance of nutritional food to prevent infections and reduce the incidence of disease. The programme was attended by 91 students.

Ms. Mukshi Alva, member of the YRC, was the master of ceremony for the programme and welcomed the gathering. Ms. Manaswini, member of the YRC, delivered the vote of thanks.
