Online workshop on “Learn to make own Cloth Face Mask: An initiative to fight against CoVID -19” was organized to College NSS Volunteers on April 17, 2020. The main aim of the workshop was to train the volunteers to make own reusable cloth face mask rather than using the surgical masks to avoid the wastage of resources.

Dr. Nagarathna K. A., NSS Co- Ordinator, Mangalore University, administered the oath to the volunteers and delivered the keynote address. In her key note speech she appreciated the initiatives taken by Canara College NSS volunteers especially the online campaign and social service activities. She appealed to the participants to involve more into social services by maintaining the social distancing.

Mr. Devi Prasad, Nodal Officer (D.K) CoVID -19, & NSS PO, GFGC, Siddakattewas the guest of honour. He requested the students to maintain physical distance and to spread the authentic information shared by the Government or WHO.

Mrs. Swathi Nayak, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Canara College, Mangaluru was the trainer of the workshop. She demonstrated different methods of mask masking, the importance of wearing the double layered mask. The method taught by her was very simple and well appreciated by all the participants.

Dr. K.V. Malini, Principal of the college presided over the function. Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., NSS PO of Canara College organized and compered this workshop.

A total of 58 NSS Volunteers were trained during this workshop. This workshop trained the participants to make own reusable cloth face mask to fight against “COVID-19” and they fulfilled their social responsibility by distributing the masks stitched by them to the needy.
