Orientation programme & pledge for the Youth Red Cross volunteers

An orientation programme for The Youth Red Cross Volunteers, Canara College Mangalore, was conducted on August 9, 2017, at Canara College seminar hall. Prof. Dejamma, NSS officer, Canara College, was the chief guest for the function. In her talk she threw light on the various concepts and aspects of the association. She conveyed the message, “Courageous YRC volunteers can make a change by involving themselves in helping the needy during disasters.  Members Selfless and voluntary service can contribute to make a safe and healthy society.”  She also spoke about theimportance of four core areas of Promoting humanitarian principles and values, Disaster response, Disaster preparedness and Health and Care in the Community to the students.

Prof. Dejamma asked everyone to take a pledge of Red Cross and the volunteers pledged to follow motto of Youth Red Cross by  “I pledge myself to take care of my own health and that of others to help the sick and suffering, especially children and to look upon all over the world as my friends”. 27 volunteers participated in this orientation program and took pledge.
