The Kannada Association is in association with Human Rights Cell and English Association of the college conducted a Seminar on `Gender Discrimination’ on February 01,2017 at Room No.01.Prof. Rita Noronha ,Retired Professor ,Roshani Nilaya ,Mangalore was the resource person. She gave more information about gender discrimination and said, ”women are not able to enjoy equal standing in society as men. The grant of equal rights by the Constitution does not bring any significant change in their position and respect in the society. Patriarchal society favours men and gives them higher authority and this makes women vulnerable to crimes. Men are not open to changes hence in just about every country ,men commit suicide more frequently than women.”
Mrs. Vani U.S and Mrs.Thara Kumari, conveners of Kannada Association, Dr. Ganesh Shetty, Convener of Human Rights Cell and Mr. Pramod Kumar P.S ,convener of English Association were present at the programme. Ms. Shradha welcomed the gathering and Ms.Ashwini Pai proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Supreetha compered the programme. All together 90 students from English Association, Kannada Association and Human Rights cell took part in this programme.
