A Seminar on ‘Personal Ethics among Students’

July 2, 2016

Ethical issues and dilemmas arise frequently in every individual and in every aspect of life. Further, if such issues and dilemmas are not dealt with appropriately, then it can lead to serious consequences too. Therefore, it is very thoughtful for the students to learn to deal them considerably.

With this view, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College organized a one day Seminar on “Personal Ethics among Students” by Sri Sanananda Das Swamiji, Iskon, Mangaluru, on Saturday, July 02, 2016 at 9:30 AM, in the College Seminar Hall. Sri Sanananda Das Swamiji, Iskon, Mangaluru, facilitated the session.

Revered Swamiji through his inspiring session said – “We all face with ethical dilemmas in one way or the other and knowing the right thing to do is not always easy or clear. Ethics and moral values must be always in the forefront so as to establish a concrete foundation for a successful and meaningful life. Further, ethical choices are more complex when we are under pressure. This can be achieved in right sense only when one builds awareness of the self, enhances decision-making skills with ethical considerations and above all by building ethical habits in every sense of life.”

Principal Dr. K. V. Malini in her address remarked – “Be independent, Prevent Harm, Do Good, Justice and Fidelity are the five-fold ethical principles that students shall cultivate to transform themselves holistically. Moreover, upon cultivating these principles will help you through tough situations and make the best decisions. You are more like to use your personal ethics to develop your career and handle many different workplace scenarios in the future. It is very much important to develop a clear and effective personal ethics statement that outlines the values you practice in such situations or settings.”

IQAC Coordinator Mrs. Premalatha V., delivered the welcomed address. Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Manohar S. Joishi Kumble proposed the vote of thanks.

The seminar enabled the students to gain an understanding of ethical and moral values to be cultivated so as to uphold the self-integrity. It strived to achieve the core values of inculcating value system and eliciting quest for excellence.
