Add on Course on “Konkani Literature Appreciation”

The Add on  course on “Konkani Literature Appreciation”  provides training to Introduction and history of Konkani Language and Literature Defining literature and the difference between fiction and non-fiction, THE KONKANI PROSE-Describing its various forms, such as essays, short stories, the novel including historical and fictional, Introducing great essayists, novelists and immortal titles, SHENOY GOEMBAB AND HIS WORKS- Biography of Shenoy Goembab and Importance of his Writings, Appreciating works of Shenoy Goembab, A hands-on Workshop on Konkani Short Stories, understanding the well-known contemporary writers like Damodar Mauzo, Mahabaleshwar Sail etc., A Special session Konkani Orthography to familiarise the rules of writing in Konkani. THE KONKANI POETRY- Introducing the various forms of Konkani poetry and well-known poets, Appreciating Konkani Poets such as Chafra, Bakibab, Manohar Rai Sardesai, Nagesh Karmali etc. KONKANI THEATRE- Familiarisation with dramatic/theatrical performance, TIATR the unique Konkani Theatre, Appreciating well-known Theatre Works and KONKANI FOLKLORE-Variety of Konkani Ramayanas, Folk Tales and Folk Songs. For the academic year 2015-16, 25 students enrolled for the Add on Course. The sessions were held by experts like Mr. Allen C.A. Periera , Mr. Paul Moras, Mr. Melwyn Rodrigues, Mr. Gurudath Bantwalkar, Mr. Venkatesh Baliga, Mrs. Padmini, Mrs. Geetha Kini, Mrs. Smitha Shenoy, Ms. etc. in the concerned field on Saturdays.

The course enabled the participants to learn Konkani Literature in general.  Learners appreciated the various forms of literature such as prose, biography, poetry, drama etc. This course exposed the participants to twentieth century Konkani literature at the same time developed reading skills.
