Outreach Programme ‘Catch Them Young’ – Promoting Basic Science among the High School students

To inculcate scientific temper among students and to create interest in basic science studies the Department of Chemistry makes the students to visit some of the remote schools in and around Mangalore as an extension activity. This activity fitted ‘catch them young’ since an opportunity to our students to demonstrate the experiments to school students. This activity, enrich students’ knowledge and also check the inquisitiveness of school students about science. Students develop the laboratory skills which make them employable.

Final B.Sc. 77 students were divided into groups and visited high school in and around Mangalore to demonstrate among 10 interesting chemical experiments to create interest among school students.

  • Sarojini Madhusudana Kushe High School, Attavar, Mangalore.
  • Gov. aided high School Padua, Mangalore.
  • Gov. high school, Mullakadu, Kavoor, Mangalore
  • Noble High School, Kunjathbail, Mangalore.
