The NSS Unit of Canara College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organized a workshop on “Freedom, Service & Leadership” on August 13, 2026, with the sponsorship of Mangalore University. The programme was organised with the aim of strengthening the leadership abilities, social awareness and sense of citizenship among NSS volunteers.
The session was facilitated by Dr. Shikaripura Krishnamurthy, Director, Abhiyanam Organisation for Research and Training in HRD. The resource person conducted an engaging and interactive session focusing on the interconnected values of freedom, service and leadership. The discussion helped students understand that freedom is accompanied by responsibility and that meaningful leadership involves serving and contributing to society.
The workshop focused on self-assessment, independence, service, leadership and responsible citizenship. The resource person encouraged students to identify their personal strengths, develop leadership qualities and understand their responsibilities towards society and the nation. The interactive session also highlighted the importance of empathy, teamwork, initiative and community service.
NSS Programme Officers Ms. Sushama C and Ms. Smitha M coordinated the programme, with 60 NSS volunteers participating and benefiting from the session.
