Department of Physics has organised a workshop on ” Basics of Quantum Computation: Bridging the gap between Classical and Quantum Computers computation ” on October 18, 2025 at 10.30 am in Smt.Ratna S.Shenoy Memorial Hall. The resource person for the workshop was Dr.Nilakantan V.K, Assistant Professor and Head, St.Aloysius College. He highlighted that Quantum computing has garnered significant attention in recent years due to its potential to revolutionize industries such as cryptography, drug discovery, artificial intelligence, and optimization problems. He also gave the increasing importance of this field, the workshop aimed to demystify complex concepts and encourage students to explore this exciting area of study.
Dr.Premalata V, Principal of the college presided over the workshop. A total of 73 students of B.Sc. stream participated in this workshop.
- Students learn to describe a qubit and understand how it differs from a classical bit through properties like superposition and entanglement.
- Students gained the ability to derive output qubits from a quantum circuit and build functional circuits.
- This workshop elicits quest for excellence among the students.
