Canara College, in association with Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru, organised “Financial Freedom: An Investment Awareness Programme” on December 08, 2025 in the College Seminar Hall for students with the aim of creating financial awareness and encouraging smart investment habits among young learners.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Mrs. Dejamma A., Head, Department of Commerce, and witnessed active participation from students. Mr. Leo Amal A., Senior Branch Manager, Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Pvt. Ltd., Mangaluru, was the resource person, who shared his expert knowledge on investment and financial planning. During the session, the resource person explained the following topics: Basics of investment, Importance of starting to invest at a young age, Difference between saving and investing, Benefits of mutual funds, Role of SIPs in wealth creation, Risk and return in investments
The session was highly interactive, and students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their views. The speaker clarified their doubts with real-life examples, making the session more interesting and informative. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Lavina S. Noronha, Faculty, Department of Commerce. A total of 94 students participated in the programme. After the session, feedback was collected from the participants.
