The Department of Commerce of Canara College has organised a Departmental Orientation Programme for First-Year B.Com Students held on July 28, 2025. Mrs Usha Nayak, Faculty, Department of Commerce and Mrs Lavina S. Noronha, Faculty, Department of Commerce, guided the first-year students with the Course Structure, Attendance and Leave Policies, opportunities for extracurricular activities and their benefits. Students were informed about the importance of regular attendance and adhering to university policies. The programme provided a platform for students to clarify doubts and seek guidance from faculty members. The orientation programme set a positive tone for the academic year, encouraging students to engage actively in their studies and extracurricular activities. Students received guidance and support from Prof. Dejamma A., HOD of Commerce, helping them navigate their academic journey. The faculty members introduced themselves, shared their number of years of experience in this institution and also informed students about the subjects which they will be handling to make students aware of Department Experts.160 First-year B.Com students were part of this Orientation Programme. All the faculty members assisted in the smooth execution of this programme, and the enthusiastic participation of students contributed to its success.
- Students gained a clear understanding of the syllabus, continuous internal evaluation, and semester-end examination process.
- Students were made aware of the 75% attendance requirement for writing university exams and the importance of regular attendance.
- Students were made aware of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities and their benefits.
