A Two-Day Industry Readiness Training Programme under the IBM SkillsBuild Certification Course was successfully conducted on December 10th and 12th, 2025, at the College Seminar Hall, Canara College. The programme was organized by the Training, Internships and Placement Cell in association with the Centre for PG Studies in Commerce, Canara College, under the aegis of Magic Bus India Foundation, an IBM SkillsBuild Participant Organization.The programme was organized for First and Second Year M.Com students with the objective of enhancing their career readiness, employability skills, and exposure to industry-relevant certification courses.
On Day 1, the session was handled by Mr. Jayden Deon D’Souza, AI Trainer, Magic Bus India Foundation, who introduced students to IBM SkillsBuild certification courses, with special focus on AI Fundamentals and Customer Engagement. The session provided practical insights into emerging technologies, digital skills, and the relevance of AI in modern business environments.
On Day 2, Mr. Kiyasath Rahaman, Placement Officer, Magic Bus India Foundation, addressed the students and highlighted the importance of industry-aligned certifications, skill-based learning, and career preparedness. He guided students on how IBM SkillsBuild certifications enhance resumes and improve placement opportunities. The session was further enriched by Mr. Jayden Deon D’Souza, who continued the training on AI Fundamentals and Customer Engagement courses, explaining real-world applications and career pathways.
Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator, along with other faculty members of the department, was present during the programme and encouraged students to actively participate and make effective use of such skill development initiatives. The programme was coordinated by Mrs. Shwetha Pai M, Coordinator – Training, Internships and Placement Cell, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct and successful execution of the programme. Ms. Ankitha, Final Year M.Com student, efficiently compered the entire event.
Students successfully completed three certifications including customer engagement: communication and personality dynamics, problem solving & process control and Artificial Intelligence and Fundamentals. The programme was highly beneficial in contributing to the institution’s core values, such as fostering global competencies and human excellence among students, and promoting the effective use of technology towards a green and sustainable environment. Altogether, 51 students actively participated in the programme.
