November 24, 2025

As part of its extension initiative, the Department of Commerce and the Consumer Forum of Canara College conducted an interactive awareness session titled “Educating Young Minds: A Consumer Awareness Extension Activity” at Government PU College, Car Street, Mangaluru on November 24, 2025. The session was designed to be simple, engaging, and age-appropriate, focusing on the fundamentals of consumer education. The program began with a brief introduction to consumer rights and responsibilities, followed by real-life examples of misleading advertisements and online shopping scams. Various visual aids and short videos were used to clearly explain the concepts. Interactive segments such as quizzes and Q&A sessions were included to sustain student interest and encourage participation. The team also discussed how to address consumer grievances and introduced the concept of the Consumer Redressal Mechanism in a simplified manner.
The activity was coordinated by Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, Faculty, Department of Commerce, and Mrs. Lavina S.
